I have to admit, though, that I only skimmed some areas (and Dan's comment) because GAH! Eye injuries (or surgeries) FREAK ME OUT!

I'm as likely to watch that video as the two of you would be to watch a video of someone being crawled on by many spiders.

Re: The Low Down on Laser Eye Surgery

Wow. Gives new life to the "stick a needle in your eye" line! I'm a complete baby about needles at the best of time, so I'd pretty much need to be unconscious to have a needle in the eyeball.

I've had some sort of shine-bright-light-in-my-eye-to-see-retina test too and also though it was quite fascinating to be able to see the blood vessels feeding my retina. Yay blood vessels!

Re: The Low Down on Laser Eye Surgery

The eye 'freezing' is so weird. I've had it done for other tests. Specifically, when they poke my eye with some sort of device to measure the pressure. It seemed rather archaic to me, at least compared to the 'blowing air in my eye' test to measure eye pressure. I've also have the 'freezing' drops whenever they need to look at my retina. The doctor uses some sort of cube like crystal that is concave on one end. That end is placed directly on my eye. Weirdest feeling ever. Then they shine a laser onto my retina via the cube like crystal thing. I'm sure it has a proper medical name, but I have no idea what it is. The laser feels a bit like staring at the sun for minutes on end. I tend to automatically start producing tears in response and end up making a huge mess. The absolute weirdest part however is being able to see the inside of my eye. Depending on where they are shining the laser, I can see all the blood vessels that feed my retina and any retinal blisters/damage. Very cool, in a scientific sort of way. Possibly gross if you think about it too long.

At some point, I may also need to have injections directly in my eye. That completely FREAKS.ME.OUT. I've witnessed an elderly woman getting that done and I have no idea how she sat there and took it. I will have to be both drugged and restrained. Which is weird, because normally, needles don't bother me at all.

Re: Give me $1,000!

LOL! Even if you had prior knowledge, I still bestow on you 100 points. I'm not quite sure what you can get with 100 points as of yet, but keep saving them. Some day, they will be worth something. Perhaps a beer on my next visit to Vancouver? I also am going to take this opportunity to bestow 100 points on Dr. Beth for also knowing the answer. I mean, it only seems fair.

Re: Happy Birthday, Soon-To-Be-Dr. Dan!

Where by "random guess," you mean "what Beth told you"!
